September is Workforce Development Month!

Why Workforce Development Is About More Than Getting the Job
September is Workforce Development Month, a time to recognize the organizations, professionals, employers, and community partners working to create stronger pathways to employment and economic opportunity.
At The Runway to Desk Project (T.R.D.P.), we believe there is another important part of the workforce-development conversation that deserves attention:
How prepared and confident do women feel when they walk through the door?
Because workforce readiness is about more than submitting a résumé.
It is about being prepared to show up.
What Does It Mean to Be Workforce Ready?
When we think about workforce development, we often think about job training, education, résumés, interviews, certifications, and employment opportunities.
All of these things are incredibly important.
But preparation doesn't stop once a woman has secured an interview or accepted a position.
Professional presentation can also play an important role in how someone feels as they enter a professional environment.
Having appropriate workplace attire, understanding professional grooming and hygiene, feeling comfortable communicating in a professional setting, and having the confidence to walk into a room prepared are all pieces of the larger workforce-readiness picture.
At T.R.D.P., we believe these pieces deserve a place in the conversation.
The Connection Between Clothing and Confidence
Clothing does not determine someone's ability to succeed.
But access to appropriate professional clothing can remove one unnecessary barrier for someone preparing for a career opportunity.
Imagine preparing for an interview and realizing you don't have anything appropriate to wear.
Or starting a new job and feeling uncomfortable because you don't have professional clothing that fits properly or reflects the expectations of your workplace.
For some women, these challenges can create stress at a time when they should be focused on preparing for their opportunity.
That's where T.R.D.P. comes in.
Our goal is to help women feel prepared, polished, and confident as they take their next professional step.
From the Runway to the Desk
The Runway to Desk Project was created around a simple idea:
Women deserve to feel confident walking into the opportunities they've worked hard to earn.
Through our career-readiness programming and Boutique Experiences, T.R.D.P. creates an environment where women can explore professional clothing while thinking intentionally about their career goals and professional presentation.
